Prescient Devices was thrilled to hold our webinar event, "Low-Code: The Most Disruptive Trend in IoT, Edge Computing and AI" on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. We had a very successful session with close to 75 attendees and engaged in conversations on low-code, edge computing and IoT. Our founder and CEO, Andy Wang, and our guest speaker, Doug Levin, an Executive-in-Residence at Harvard Business School created a timely discussion to illuminate the rise of low-code IoT development and where it could take businesses in the future. In case you missed our webinar, we summarized some of the highlights for you. Here are the 5 reasons why low-code is changing the landscape of IoT:

1. The future of data is closer to you than you think

Data is becoming more and more central to how businesses operate and evolve. Alongside the growth of data, is the growing interest in how data is being processed. Gartner predicts a shift away from traditional data centers towards a more distributed approach. Data should not only be managed closer to where it is being created, but also closer to where it provides value.

2. Overcoming technology complexity is key

IoT deployment challenges range from strategy to technology, with technology complexity being the main pain point of IoT implementation and iteration. Low-code plays a key role in simplifying IoT design and management for IT/OT engineers, system integrators, and data scientists alike, empowering them with agility and the space to experiment. It also creates the foundation for easier automation design in IoT.

3. Low-code is everywhere

Low-code is not just an early concept in formation. It's been widely developed and used across industries, such as industrial automation (Rockwell Automation), product testing (National Instruments) and system design (MathWorks). It's now making way into the world of IoT in its most popular form, functional block programming. This brings simplicity and modularity to the complex environment of IoT.

4. Deploy fast with programmable turnkey solutions

Programmable turnkey solution is not an oxymoron, it is how most enterprises will use low-code IoT deployments to evolve rapidly. The benefit of fast deployment from turnkey solutions, paired with the flexibility of programmable low-code gives enterprises the best of both worlds. Save time on training and take advantage of the agility low-code programmable turnkey solutions provide for monitoring progress and visualizing better IoT solutions.

5. Low-code is the future of IoT

Low-code is disrupting the world of IoT, and its effects will only continue to grow. 94% of businesses will use IoT by the end of 2021, and they need to succeed in their implementation if they are to reap the significant financial benefits. An agile process is needed to encourage and support the learning and iteration necessary to produce an evolving and improving IoT solution. Low-code will simplify this process while enabling the transformative effects brought by IoT.
